| The Illinois and Michigan Canal National Heritage Corridor was created by Congress in 1984. The purpose of the Corridor is to preserve, enhance and interpret the diverse resources found along the Illinois and Michigan Canal. The Corridor is overseen by a 19-member federal commission which works in cooperation with a variety of governmental and private organizations. |
